The National House, at the intersection of West Market and Beaver streets in York, has changed its look several times since the original building was constructed in the early 19th century.
But with its current renovation, the look isn't going to change.
Fiberglass posts and composite decking will replace wood, according to Steve Mansberger, a job supervisor for RSDC, formerly known as Royal Square Development and Construction.
The composite decking, or floor, of the porches will have seals to keep water from seeping into the wooden structure below.
